General Job Description:
The Superintendent shall be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District. He/She is responsible for the effective operation of the District; general administration of all instructional, business or other operations of the District; and for advising and making recommendations to the Board of Education with respect to such activities. He/She shall perform all the duties and accept all of the responsibilities usually required of a Superintendent as prescribed by the Education Laws of the State of New Mexico, the rules and regulations of the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education, laws and regulations of the United States, statutes of the state of New Mexico, and the policies, rules, and regulations established by the Board of Education.
Work Schedule:
Twelve month contract (249 days).

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Educational Administration or related field of study.
- A NM Administrative Certificate.
- At least eight years of successful teaching experience.
- Two years as a successful school principal.
- Extensive knowledge of school finance and budget development and management.
- Extensive knowledge of current teaching and learning concepts.
- Extensive knowledge of technology in education, human resources functions, and facilities management.
- Extensive knowledge of special education and bilingual education laws and instructional practices.
- Demonstrated competence to communicate effectively with board members, staff, parents, and the community
- Demonstrated ability to work and to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural and economically diverse community setting.
- Demonstrated management skills, including the ability to discern needs, monitor, update, and provide support for the current district Educational Plan for Student Success and five-year facility plan.
- Proven record of honesty, integrity, and high ethical standards.
- Understanding of State and Federal political climate.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Primary Activities:
- To be the chief executive officer (CEO) of the District, with the right to speak on all matters before the Board, but not to vote.
- To enforce all provisions of law and all rules and regulations relating to the management of the schools and other educational, social and recreational activities under the direction of the Board.
- The Superintendent will be responsible for continuing and supporting school-wide initiatives, including but not limited to team-building, e.g., RCA, to ensure the ongoing success and growth of educational programs that enhance student achievement and staff development.
