Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, tailored to their specific abilities and requirements.
- Conduct assessments to determine student needs and monitor progress, adjusting teaching strategies and techniques as necessary.
- Create a supportive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that encourages students to engage in learning and to value their own progress.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other educators to share progress and strategies for supporting students' educational journeys.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to review and update IEPs, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively, employing strategies that foster positive social interactions and self-regulation among students.
- Engage in continuous professional development to remain current on best practices in special education, including new teaching methods, materials, and technologies.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
- State certification in Special Education, with endorsements or qualifications for teaching students with specific disabilities preferred.
- Proven experience working with students with diverse learning needs in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Creativity and adaptability in teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with special needs.
- Patience, empathy, and dedication to student development and success.
