General Job Function:
Supervises: Elementary, Middle and High School Principals and other assigned Leadership Staff. The Director of Principal Leadership is responsible for supporting, supervising, and coaching building-level principals to enhance school leadership, operations, and student achievement across the district. This position will lead principals in developing and implementing 90-day plans focused on instructional improvement and operational success. Additionally, the Director will collaborate with district divisions to build leadership capacity, ensure continuous improvement of schools, and foster positive school climates and community partnerships.

Education/Training/Experience:  
Minimum:   
  • Valid New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) PK-12 Administrative License.
  • Master’s Degree or higher, preferably in preferably in Education Administration or Public Policy, from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Minimum of six years as a principal, with a strong understanding of school operations, instructional leadership, and building a positive school culture.
 
 
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
  • Leadership and Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to support and motivate school leaders and foster collaborative working environments.
  • Instructional and Operational Knowledge: Expertise in data-driven instruction, staff evaluations, and budget development.
  • Professional Development: Experience in designing and delivering professional development for educational leaders.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; multilingual abilities preferred.
Technological Proficiency: Skilled in using current educational technology and tools to support school leadership.
 
Physical Requirements:  
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Standing, walking, sitting, and reaching as needed to perform duties across various district offices. 
  • Requires manual dexterity for operating office equipment and a clear vision for data analysis and material preparation.
 
Work Environment: 
  • Indoor office environment 
  • Some out of town travel to attend meetings  
  • Frequent travel between district sites
  • This position is not covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Occasional after-hours work may be required to meet district needs.
 
Personal Accountability:
  • Demonstrates reliability as evidenced by attendance records and punctuality.
  • Properly notifies supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness.
  • Begins and completes work within the allotted time.
  • Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the work environment.

Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
