Job Description:
Pecos Cyber Academy is a New Mexico virtual public charter school.  PCA is seeking a teacher with a NMK-8 License: Electives Teacher.
Applicants MUST reside in NM to work with Pecos Cyber Academy.
Job Description: The Middle School teacher will provide guidance and instructional experiences that are academically and developmentally appropriate for each student assigned, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and administer school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Encourages parental involvement in student’s education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Works collaboratively with other staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources for each area taught.
  • Obtain feedback from and communicate with students in a manner that enhances student learning and understanding.
  • Manage the classroom to ensure the best use of instructional time and promote positive student behavior in a safe and healthy environment.
  • Recognizes student diversity and creates an atmosphere conducive to the promotion of student involvement and self-concept.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to examine and implement change, as appropriate.
  • Work productively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
  • Follow board policies and administrative rules and regulations.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare for instruction and show written evidence of preparation.
  • Communicate accurate and up-to-date information to students in a way that enhances student learning, and includes demonstrating effective writing skills and use of Standard English Manage time appropriately.
  • Cooperate with administration, parents, and co-workers.
  • Create a positive atmosphere maintain accurate and complete records as required by PCA.
  • Report progress or lack thereof to parents in a timely manner
  • Leave adequate preparations for a substitute.
  • Take precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Develop and implement appropriate classroom management strategies while maintaining high expectations for student behavior.
  • Encourage cooperation between students.
  • Maintain student involvement in appropriate tasks.
  • Be available to parents, students, administration and peers outside the school day, if needed.
  • Be responsible for students on Learning Events Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
    Knowledge of middle school curriculum and concepts
    Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
    Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
    Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
    Ability to organize and coordinate work
    Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
    Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
    Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
  • Accept other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the principal.
    Qualifications: Bachelors degree
    New Mexico teaching license in the appropriate grade levels with endorsements as needed.
    Work Environment: Remote in your home office.  Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After hour work may be required.
    Terms of Employment: Salary and work calendar established yearly by the PCAHR.
