Job Title:  Maintenance – Facilities & Maintenance Assistant Manager
Assignment:  Facilities and Maintenance Department, Maintenance Services Team
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency;
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from sketches, diagrams and construction drawings; to make cost estimates of time and materials; to function as a consultant and/or inspector in areas of specialization; and
  • Current New Mexico Driver’s License with insurable driving record.
  • Must be familiar with and able to read mechanical, electrical, irrigation, HVAC, and plumbing schematics specifications;
  • Must be able to perform assistant manager / leadership work in a manner that satisfies this positions job requirements;
  • Must possess professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess the ability to problem solve and develop actionable solutions that will rectify troubled situations, maintain safety of students, staff, and district property, act in a manner that is efficient, safe, positively represents the district, and act accordingly under the direction of the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, the Operations Director, and any other designated district office employee.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, including computer software programs; and
  • Must have the ability to properly lift heavy items (at least 100lbs), work in extreme conditions and environments
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance with a high degree of skill related to specialized maintenance work in the trade specific disciplines. Instructs, trains, leads and supervises less skilled tradesmen in the completion of trade specific work;
  • Provides excellent customer service;
  • Work collaboratively with Facilities and Maintenance Manager and all its departmental employees;
  • Act appropriately under the direction of the Facilities and Maintenance Manager;
  • Upon approval of supervisor, purchases supply as needed to perform work; Considers the purchase of materials that provide the best value to the District;
  • Coordinates and performs quality control of contractors hired to maintenance repairs upon approval by supervisor;
  • Dispatches and schedules contractors for regular and emergency work upon approval by supervisor;
  • Prepares job estimates and prioritizes materials, time, and labor required to complete assignments in a safe, effective and efficient manner;
  • Receives and accurately records all work performed in the District electronic work order system. Properly accounts for costs including hours worked, materials used and contracted services used to complete work order;
  • Uses and maintains tools, equipment and vehicles assigned and assures that all is maintained and used safely as outlined by manufacturer and or preventative maintenance procedures;
  • Performs all work using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with Maintenance Safety Plan;
  • Assists Facilities and Maintenance Manager in planning projects;
  • Serves as a consultant to supervisor in areas of expertise;
  • Supervise all custodial personnel at assigned site and ensure that staff are properly trained and equipped to perform their daily duties;
  • Oversee all custodial staff training and documentation of completed training
  • Organize, schedule and evaluate the completion of all custodial duties district-wide;.
Work Hours:
  • Eight (8) Hours per day/260 Day Contract;
  • Supervisor may assign additional work hours;
  • Employee performs On-Call and Call-Back duties as assigned; and
  • Employee is required to perform Emergency Call-Back;
  • Employee is a salaried worker which constitutes no overtime or time accrual
