Are you passionate about cultivating the next generation of agricultural leaders and empowering students to make a difference in their communities? Hagerman Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School Agricultural Education Teacher to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year, with a special focus on fostering a love for agriculture and leadership through the National FFA Organization.

Position: Middle School Agricultural Education Teacher
Grade Levels: 6-8
Location: Hagerman Middle School, Hagerman, NM
Setting: Rural
Student Body: Approximately 70 students

  • Teach agricultural education courses to middle school students, including topics such as plant and animal science, agriculture, and natural resources.  (Possible HS teaching opportunities as well)
  • Co-advise the Hagerman FFA chapter, providing leadership and guidance to students in developing their leadership skills, career readiness, and personal growth.
  • Coach Career Development Events (CDE) and Leadership Development Events (LDE) teams, preparing students for competitions and leadership opportunities within the FFA organization.
  • Mentor students in Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects, guiding them in hands-on learning experiences related to agriculture, agribusiness, and leadership development.
  • Coordinate community service projects and school-sponsored activities that promote agricultural literacy, environmental stewardship, and civic engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate agricultural education principles and practices across the curriculum, fostering interdisciplinary connections and real-world applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education, Agriculture, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching license/certification in New Mexico (or ability to obtain)
  • Knowledge of agricultural science content, FFA programs, and experiential learning methods.
  • Experience in coaching CDE/LDE teams, advising FFA chapters, and facilitating student SAE projects.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
