Job Description:
HISPANIC EDUCATION DIRECTOR
The Director will guide schools in organizing and implementing multilingual and multicultural programs. The Director will also guide the district and schools in implementing avenues for increased academic success of Hispanic students in Grades K-12 and in their post-secondary transition.
The school serves the communities of Bernalillo, Placitas, Algodones, Pena Blanca, Sile, and the Pueblos of Santo Domingo, Cochiti, Santa Ana, San Felipe, Jemez and Zia
Qualifications:
? Maintain, organize and administer the overall program of multicultural and bilingual activities
? MA Degree
? Current or eligible for NM Administrative License
? Three years of previous teaching and administrative experience
? Bilingual certification preferred
? Oversee existing grants
? Ability to secure funding from outside grants
? Guide the establishment of parental educational opportunity information and support sessions for parents of Hispanic students
? Assist principals in understanding multilingual programs and how to effectively implement programs within each particular school
? Evaluate each school?s bilingual program and all grant funded program efforts
? Guide principals in remaining in compliance with state and federal requirements pertaining to bilingual education
? Guide principals in developing and implementing the State Application for Bilingual Education
? Align multilingual program efforts with each School Educational Plan for Student Success
? Provide resources and opportunities for teachers to achieve bilingual and TESOL endorsements
? Assist schools with professional development that supports multilingual classroom activity
? Develop budgets and conduct oversight expenditures
